Ventanielles public school in Asturias has recently been recognised by the European Commission as being a centre of reference for bilingual programmes across Europe. The commission was impressed by the quality and consistency of education offered at the school and the fluency level of students who have been involved in the bilingual project for years.
The head of the bilingual programme at the school, Angela Cofiño, who is an author and teacher trainer for Oxford University Press, along with her team of teachers, four of whom are native English speakers, have designed units of study which provides young learners with all the support they need to excel in English.
The school offers more than 40% of the curriculum in English and students and parents alike have embraced the idea of learning English through other subjects.
Congratulations to Angela and the teachers at Ventanielles for their hard work and dedication to bilingual education!
